At Cura Day Surgery, we understand that undergoing surgery can be a significant event in your life. We are dedicated to ensuring that your experience with us is as smooth and comfortable as possible. Here’s what you can expect at each stage of your patient journey.

What to expect:

Before Surgery:

  • Please confirm your arrival and surgery time with your doctor / clinic. 
  • Fasting Guidelines: Please abstain from food for 4 to 6 hours before your surgery. This includes vitamins, candy, food, dairy products etc. Failure to adhere to the fasting instructions mentioned, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, may result in cancellation of your surgery.
  • No fasting is required for patients who are undergoing procedures under local anaesthesia.
  • Jewelry, nail polish, piercings, dentures and contact lenses to be removed
  • Do not bring any valuables

On the Day of Surgery:

  • Upon Arrival: You will be greeted by our friendly staff who will guide you through the admission process and answer any questions you may have.
  • Avoid wearing any make up, perfume, lotions or oils
  • To inform if there are any metal implant / pacemaker
  • To inform on allergy (drug / food), medical and surgical history
  • We strongly recommend arranging a family member or friend to pick you up after the procedure.
  • Patients below 21 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will sign the consent form.
  • For your comfort, we strongly encourage you to wear something that can be easily removed and stored
    If you are undergoing sedation or anesthesia, ensure a responsible adult is available to accompany you home.

What to Bring for Your Day Surgery

Bring only essential items and documents, such as:

  • Completed admission and consent form
  • NRIC / Passport
  • Mode of payment
  • List of current medications that you are taking (if any)
  • Letter of guarantee (if any)
  • Pre-op medications (if any)
  • Medical devices (if any)

DISCLAIMER

  • Cura Day Surgery will not be responsible for your personal belongings.

After Surgery:

  • Recover in your suite, where our nurses will monitor your condition closely.
  • Your doctor will update you or your family after your procedure.
  • The recovery time varies from patient to patient. Our nurses will monitor your vital signs and condition and make sure you are well and stable before discharging.
  • Our nurses will provide you and your family with patient education on home self-care, including medication management and wound care.
  • Your doctor will also inform you on your follow-up appointment.
  • Do not drive, smoke, consume alcohol and operate machinery for 24 hours post-op.
